Memory Scraps

// In all our wardrobes hang scraps of memory. They remind us of the first date, of the most beautiful summer day, of the successful job interview. Pieces we cannot part with. Yet they clog up the wardrobe, because they are no longer worn.

Clothes are carriers of emotion. The jacket that came along on a trip around the world will always remain tied to it and bring happiness at the mere sight of it. The uniform worn in a beloved but rationalised-away job will always stir a certain melancholy in its wearer. But sometimes they are simply favourite pieces we have outgrown, or that are already worn thin because we wore them so often. Ones the moths liked just as much as we did. Whose shape has been changed by the wrong wash.

Out of the question of how such favourite pieces could be given a purpose again, we arrived at the //Memory Scraps// project. Whoever hands us their personal former favourite piece receives a new, wearable garment in return. With the help of our fringe technique we take the memories out of the pieces and join them into a wearable scrap of memory – for example a jacket, a coat or a bag.

We stay true to our concept of sustainability and upcycling, as well as to our aesthetic standards.

The resulting new garment holds both old memories and the possibility of gathering many new ones in it. //
